The short answer
The Emporia Pro is the best long-cable EV charger: a 25 ft lead, 48 A / 11.5 kW hardwired, a NEMA 4 enclosure and load management that reads whole-home draw. The EVIQO 48 A matches the 25 ft cable for less money, the Autel MaxiCharger AC Lite is the 25 ft plug-in option with a -40 degF rating, and the Wallbox Pulsar Plus gets 25 ft out of the smallest box on the wall. Below 25 ft the next tier is 24 ft — the Tesla Wall Connector and the Grizzl-E Classic.

Why cable length outranks amperage for most people
An extra 8 A of output shortens an overnight charge that was already finishing at 3 a.m. A cable three feet too short means you park differently for the next ten years, or you do not charge at all. One of those is a specification; the other is a daily annoyance.
The reach you need is not the straight-line distance from the wall to the charge port. It is the route the cable actually takes — down the wall, along the floor or around the back of the car, then up to the port — plus slack so the lead loops rather than stretches.
25 ft total - 3 ft down the wall - 4 ft of slack and loop
about 18 ft of usable horizontal reach
Worked from the mounting heights in our mounting-height guide. The subtractions are the parts people forget; the cable should never be taut at the end of a session.

The picks
1. Emporia Pro — 25 ft, 48 A, and a load manager

Most households, and anyone with a tight panel
Emporia Pro Level 2 EV Charger
25 ft cable, 48 A / 11.5 kW hardwired, NEMA 4, UL certified and ENERGY STAR, with PowerSmart load management and the Vue monitor included.
#ad Price as of October 28, 2026. How we make money
The longest cable in the class on the unit we already rate highest overall. Hardwired it is 48 A on a 60 A breaker; on a NEMA 14-50 plug it drops to 40 A, which is the normal trade — the hardwired vs plug-in guide explains why. The included whole-home monitor is what makes it the pick for a house whose panel is near its limit.
2. EVIQO 48 A — the same 25 ft for less

48 A on a budget
EVIQO Level 2 EV Charger (48 A, hardwired)
25 ft cable, IP66 / NEMA 4, 48 A via an internal switch, ETL certified and ENERGY STAR listed.
The cheapest genuine 48 A unit with a 25 ft lead. It ships set to 40 A, so the internal switch has to be changed at install — easy to miss, and worth saying to your electrician out loud. EVIQO vs Emporia Pro sets the two against each other properly.
3. Autel MaxiCharger AC Lite — 25 ft without hardwiring

Cold climates and 1 A output tuning
Autel MaxiCharger AC Lite (40 A)
25 ft cable on a plug-in 40 A unit, 6-40 A adjustment in 1 A steps and a published -40 degF to +131 degF range.
#ad Price as of October 28, 2026. How we make money
If the garage already has a 14-50 and you do not want an electrician back, this is the long-cable answer. The 1 A output steps and the widest published temperature range in the category are why it also leads our cold-weather roundup.
4 and 5. The small box and the plug-in brand name
Two more ways to get 25 ft
The Wallbox is the smallest 48 A unit here at 7.8 inches wide, which matters in a tight garage where the charger competes with a door track. The Leviton is a 40 A plug-in from a brand most electricians already stock.

The smallest 48 A unit on a wall
Wallbox Pulsar Plus 48 A
A genuinely small 48 A charger — under 8 inches square — which is the deciding factor when the only spot left is a narrow strip of wall beside the panel.

Plug-in with Wi-Fi from a known brand
Leviton Smart EV Charger (40 A, NEMA 14-50)
Leviton's 40 A plug-in with Wi-Fi and a 25 ft cable — the balanced pick in their range.

The Wallbox is hardwired only and rated NEMA Type 4 per UL 50E, with a published -22 degF to 104 degF range. The Leviton Smart 40 A plugs into a 14-50 and adds Wi-Fi — see the Leviton review for how the range splits across SKUs.
Get the mounting position right and you may not need 25 ft
- Park the car where it will actually live, then measure from the proposed mounting point to the charge port along the real cable route.
- Add three to five feet of slack. The cable loops; it never stretches.
- Mount at 36 to 48 inches to the bottom of the enclosure — see EV charger mounting height.
- Hang the loop on a steel hook, not a plastic one. 25 ft of 8 AWG cable is heavy; cable management and cable holders cover the hardware.
How we picked
Every unit here is currently purchasable, carries a real UL or ETL certification to the relevant standard, and comes from a brand with an identifiable North American support path. We verified each one's published specifications against the manufacturer's own documentation on the date shown at the top of this page. We verify specifications; we do not bench-test hardware, and our methodology says so in plain terms. Ranking order is fit for the stated use case first, then price, then warranty and support — commission rate plays no part in it. Ranking on this page is cable length first, then output, then everything else — which is the opposite of how these units are usually sold.
